Butterflies

Butterflies in mid-winter
fluttering around my heart,
skimming along my lungs.

Butterflies in my stomach
making a knot of my tongue,
reddening sun-deprived cheeks.

Butterflies in my blood
gathering at the light,
flocking to the glow you’ve put inside me.
